It is with shock and great sadness that we inform you of the sudden demise of the Chairman of our School, Shri Keshav N Desiraju. Shri Desiraju passed away on the morning of the 5th of September at the Kauvery Hospital, Chennai, succumbing to a massive heart attack.

Shri Keshav N Desiraju played a crucial role in developing the School and contributed immensely to every aspect during his tenure as the Chairman of the School since 2016.

​

Late Shri Keshav N Desiraju is the grandson of the former President of India, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Shri Desiraju is a retired civil servant - an IAS officer from the 1978 batch of the Uttarakhand cadre. He has a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He had held many positions with the Government of Uttarakhand, the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and the Government of India. Shri Desiraju retired as a Union Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India.

A man of great intellect, vision and courage, Shri Desiraju contributed immensely to the welfare of Staff and Students of Lovedale. He dedicated himself to building bridges to a better future and in this way he touched our lives.

We mourn the passing of Shri Desiraju, who has left behind a powerful legacy of humility, simplicity and dedication.
