AGE CRITERIA– CLASS V TO IX

1. One of the most significant shifts in the Indian Education system recently is the implementation of the NEP 2020. This change

fundamentally altered how age is calculated for entry-level grades.

2. At The Lawrence School, Lovedale we admit students from Classes V to IX and Class XI.  As per the National Education Policy (NEP), the

recommended age for a child seeking admission to Class V is 10+ years resulting in a progressive age requirement for higher Classes.

3. Admission to the appropriate grade and placement for Classes V to IX is based on the candidate’s readiness for the particular Class and

the fulfilment of the admission requirements as described in the paragraphs that follow.

APTITUDE ANALYSIS (CLASS V TO IX)

The Aptitude Analysis is conducted in two stages. A written assessment is held in the first week of November every year and candidates who qualify based on merit of achievement are invited to an in-person interaction which forms the second stage of the assessment.

Classes V and VI – A written assessment in English and Mathematics will be conducted for Classes V and VI with a duration of 1 hour per subject.

Class VII to IX – A written assessment in English, Mathematics and Science will be conducted for Classes VII to IX with a duration of 1 hour per subject.

The overall Admissions process spans across November to March every year.

SYLLABUS AND SAMPLE QUESTION PAPER – APTITUDE ANALYSIS

The Syllabus for the Aptitude Analysis is according to the CBSE Syllabus.

For example: If a candidate is applying for admission to Class V, the assessment will be based on the CBSE Syllabus of Class IV.

CHOOSING THE EXAMINATION CENTRE AND ISSUANCE OF THE ADMIT CARD

There are Examination Centres across India for the convenience of our candidates.

For candidates seeking admission to an upcoming Academic Year, the Admit Card mentioning their preferred Examination Centre location should be submitted at the latest by the 25th of October every year.

Specific details about the Examination Centres will be announced via the Admissions Section of the website two weeks ahead of the Examination date.

EXAMINATION DATES

Please note that the School is authorized to cancel or postpone the Aptitude Analysis due to a declared national emergency or similar force majeure event, such as a natural disaster, pandemic or security situation and parents will be informed accordingly via the School’s website.

RESULTS OF THE APTITUDE ANALYSIS

The results of the Aptitude Analysis will be notified via a written communication to ALL APPLICANTS who have attended the written assessment. A Pass Mark in all subjects and the overall percentage achieved at the Aptitude Analysis will determine whether a candidate is shortlisted for the next stage of the assessment.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited along with their parents to attend an in-person Interaction with the Admission Panel Members.

Please note that children will not be assessed for specific academic ability only. Through the Interaction, the Management will also ascertain the following:

  • To know about their significant achievements and talents.

MEDICAL CLEARANCE
