Lawrence school, Lovedale Badminton Girls Finish the Podium
Our U-17 Badminton girls have shown an excellent performance in the IPSC Badminton tournament for girls conducted by Emerald Heights, Indore. The tournament was commenced from 8th to 11th September-2026. More than 10 schools took part in the tournament and our U-17 girls won the second runner up position beating the following schools with great margin Daly college Indore & MNSS Rai.

Inter House Mathematics Quiz 2026(Junior School)
The Inter House Mathematics Quiz 2026 (Junior School) was conducted on 9th September, 2026 in the Senior School Large Hall.
The teams comprised of four participants, per house. Rules and regulations of the quiz were explained at the beginning. Five rounds competition included Warm up, General, Logic, Choice and Rapid fire, which engaged the students for one hour.
It was very informative and knowledge enriching competition for the participants. The Quiz was a great success and participants and the audience enjoyed it thoroughly. At the end of the competition, Aravalli House emerged as the Winner, while Nilgiri House secured the Second Position.

Inter-House Humanities Quiz Competition– Junior School
An Inter-House Humanities Quiz was conducted for the Junior School on 1 September 2026. The quiz aimed to encourage students to develop their interest in History, Geography, Civics, Current Affairs and Indian culture and heritage, while promoting curiosity, teamwork and healthy competition.
A total of 16 students from the four houses- Aravalli, Sumeru, Nilgiri and Vindhya participated enthusiastically and demonstrated commendable knowledge, quick thinking and presence of mind across a variety of rounds. The quiz included visual, factual and application-based questions, making the competition engaging and interactive.
The event provided students with an enjoyable platform to learn beyond the classroom, strengthen their general awareness and appreciate India’s rich historical and cultural heritage. The enthusiastic participation and competitive spirit displayed by the students made the quiz a successful and enriching learning experience.

A Day at Cherry-Berry - 2nd Trip
On 6th September, the children of Dorms 1 and 3 enjoyed a delightful lunch outing to Cherrie Berry, Coonoor. The outing offered the children an opportunity to step away from their usual routine.
The children of Classes VII and VIII trekked to the compost farm, while the girls of Classes V and VI travelled by buggy. At the farm, the children had the opportunity to hold earthworms, pick strawberry guavas and strawberries, and enjoy the freshly picked fruits.
The group then made their way back to the restaurant for lunch, which included spring rolls, chole bhature, vegetable biryani and ice cream. After lunch, the new joiners visited the chocolate and essential oils factories, while the old joiners spent their time dancing and enjoying the play area. The day ended on a cheerful note, with the children returning with happy memories of a relaxed and enjoyable outing.
Report on the Prep School Inter House English Poem Recitation
The Class V Inter House English Prepared Speech Competition was held on 7th September 2026 in the Prep School Large Hall at 2:30 pm. The 20 participants and 12 announcers represented their four Houses. The MIC Junior School, Mr Gijo Joseph and the HOD English Ms Nidhi Mishra were present. The Judges for the competition were Mr Swetank, Ms Priyadharshini Nair, and Mr Abhishikth. The participants were judged on the parameters like Preparation, Expression, Clarity and Overall Impact. The young speakers enthralled the audience with their articulation and memory skill. The preparation and the enthusiasm displayed by the participants was praiseworthy.

Inter-House Quiz on Solid Waste Management – Eco Club
The Eco Club of The Lawrence School, Lovedale organized an Inter-House Quiz on Solid Waste Management for the students of Prep School today. The event commenced at 2:30 PM in the Prep School Large Hall. The participants were enthusiastic and eagerly answered the questions, making the event interactive and successful. The quiz created awareness among young learners about waste segregation, recycling and sustainable practices.
The entire event was efficiently organized by the Girls of Grade 10, who also delivered the vote of thanks at the end of the program. The Eco Club appreciates the cooperation of the Prep School staff and the active participation of all houses.

Under-10 Blue Cubs Football Tournament
The Nilgiris District Football Association (NDFA) organized the Under-10 Blue Cubs Football Tournament from 11th to 13th September 2026 at Unique Public School. A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament, which was conducted on a league-cum-knockout basis with four groups. The Lawrence School performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament and progressed to the knockout stage.
Quarter-Final:
The Lawrence School defeated Best Public School – 6–0.
Semi-Final:
The Lawrence School defeated Unique Public School – 4–0.
Final:
The Lawrence School defeated JSS School – 4–1, becoming the Champions of the Under-10 Blue Cubs Football Tournament.

The Equestrian Federation of India National Qualifier Championship and Coimbatore Horse Show was held between 23rd and 27 th August where our young riders performed outstandingly well, winning 29 medals. Team Lawrence won multiple titles at the District Badminton Tournament held at Anna Stadium, Ooty, from 27th to 30th August 2026, making the School proud. This year’s championship brought together 430 players from 25 schools and clubs across the region , spanning age groups from under 11 to above 55.

Senior School Inter-House English Debate Competition
The Senior School Inter-House English Debate Competition was held on 27 August 2026 at the Senior School Large Hall. Students from Nilgiri, Sumeru, Vindhya and Aravali Houses participated enthusiastically, showcasing confidence, eloquence, critical thinking and strong debating skills. The panel comprised Mr Pinaki Biswas, English Educator, Good Shepherd International School, Ooty; Mr Lakhmi Chand Goyal, Librarian; and Colonel Kalyan Das, Bursar, The Lawrence School, Lovedale.
Namith D. Puttachi (XII A, Nilgiri House) was adjudged Best Speaker, followed by Ved Ramamurthy (XI A, Sumeru House) as Second Best Speaker and Nivedh Sedhu (XI C, Vindhya House) as Third Best Speaker.
In the House standings, Nilgiri House emerged as the winner. Vindhya House and Sumeru House shared the second position, while Aravali House secured the third position. The competition was a vibrant showcase of oratory, reasoning and healthy inter-house spirit, with the students delivering impressive and well-articulated performances.
CBSE Cluster VI Basketball Tournament Report
The CBSE Cluster VI Basketball Tournament was held at Shrishti Vidyashram Senior Secondary School, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, from 25th to 29th August 2026. The tournament witnessed the participation of approximately 500 schools from across Tamil Nadu, making it a highly competitive sporting event. Teams competed with great enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
We are proud to announce that our Under-19 Girls’ Basketball Team secured the Third Position in the tournament. Their remarkable performance, teamwork, dedication, and perseverance brought great pride and recognition to our school. The achievement is a testament to the hard work of the players and the guidance of their coaches. The school congratulates the team on their outstanding success and wishes them the very best in their future sporting endeavors.
Nilgiri’s District Athletics Championship 2026
Nilgiri’s District Athletics championship (Boys) 2026 was conducted on 20.08.2026 at HADP Stadium, Ooty. There are around 15 schools participated various events of this championship. The Lawrence School Lovedale Boys performed excellently and won the following medals in their respective events.

Routhran S won the 1st place in triathlon event that consist of 3 events (60m, 5m long jump, high jump) - under -14 boys category.

Shaurya won 3rd place in High Jump (170 cm) - under-18 Boys category.
A Day at Cherry-Berry
The previous night, we thought it was going to be a normal, boring Sunday, but little did we know it would be the most memorable Sunday of our lives!
The next day, we were woken up one hour before our usual time of 8:00 AM; today we were woken up at 7:00 AM because we were going to "Cherrie Berry." Our journey started at 9:15 AM, and it took us half an hour to reach Cherrie Berry, which is in Coonoor. When we reached there, we were mesmerized by the beauty of the place. We were welcomed with a glass of fresh watermelon juice that was very sweet and tasty.
Then, a guide took us along a route, explained the different kinds of plants, and led us to a composting area where they made organic manure by adding animal waste and vegetable leftovers. He told us about the importance of earthworms. Next, we were taken to a strawberry and guava farm, where the fruits were sweet and sour. We picked two strawberries each, which were very sweet. After that, we traveled back to the main building and then stopped at the tea factory, where a staff member explained how tea powder was made—quite an interesting thing to see. Next, we were guided to the eucalyptus oil extraction unit, where a staff member explained the process of making the oil and described its uses. The most interesting part came next: homemade chocolates! We were all drawn to the sweet smell. A staff member explained how the chocolates were made and gave us a sample to taste, which was very delicious.
Back at the main building, we had our lunch, which featured many varieties of food with a dessert at the end. Soon enough, it was time for us to head back to our school, so we all boarded our respective buses and left. Even though we had to leave, we made so many new memories and felt happy to have experienced such a wonderful day and weekend. All the students from Dorm 4, Dorm 2, and Prep Boys participated in the outing described above.
Lawrence School Celebrates 80 Glorious Years of Indian Independence
The Lawrence School commemorated the 80th year of Indian Independence with great pride, dignity and patriotic fervour. The occasion was honoured by the gracious presence of the Chief Guest, Lt Gen Manish Ery, Commandant, Defence Services Staff College (DSSC).The celebrations reflected the spirit of patriotism and national pride that lies at the heart of India's Independence. The School Band rendered stirring patriotic melodies, while the students, resplendent in their smart turnout, added grace and solemnity to the occasion. The speeches served as a poignant reminder to the students that, as the future citizens of India, they have an important role to play in upholding the nation's values, preserving its unity and contributing meaningfully to its continued progress.
Report on Inter-House Debate Competition (JS)
An Inter-House Debate Competition was conducted on Friday, 14th August 2026, at 2:30 p.m. in the JS Prep Hall to promote critical thinking, effective communication, and public speaking skills among the students of Classes 6–8. The competition centred around the thought-provoking topic, “Robots Can Replace Teachers in Schools.”
Ms. Anita Prabhu, Ms. Shweta, and Ms. Merlyn Fernandes served as the adjudicators for the competition, while Anishka Sharma of Class VIII took on the role of the Chairperson. Two students from each House presented compelling arguments both for and against the motion, illuminating the hall with their innovative ideas, persuasive arguments, and strong viewpoints.
The rebuttal panel, comprising 12 students, further enriched the debate by posing thought-provoking questions to the speakers and contributing to a lively exchange of ideas.At the end of the event, the judges and dignitaries shared their observations and offered valuable, constructive feedback to the participants. The results of the competition were as follows: Virat Vijay of Sumeru House secured the third position, Shauryaveer Khanna of Nilgiri House bagged the second position, while Vaanya Chaudhary of Nilgiri House and Avishka Sharma of Vindhya House jointly secured the first position.
Journey to Independence: A Walk Through the Freedom Book Exhibition
This year, our school was represented at the Round Square International Service Project in South Africa by Jean Pereira, Tanisha Subbu and Juhi Shah of Class 12, and Rudra Singh of Class 10. The project provided students with an opportunity to engage in meaningful community service while learning about a different culture and interacting with students from schools across the world. A key activity was the construction of a community soup kitchen, where students worked together to mix cement, carry materials, and contribute to the development of a facility that will continue to serve the local community. The project also enabled students to form friendships with participants from around the world through shared responsibilities, teamwork, and common experiences. Exploring South Africa further enriched the experience, offering insights into its culture, landscapes, and communities.
Onam at Its Best: A Celebration of Joy, Tradition & Togetherness
On 26 August 2026, the spirit of Onam came alive at the Girls’ School with a vibrant celebration filled with colour, music, laughter and togetherness. The day was packed with exciting games and activities that brought out the enthusiasm and team spirit of the girls.The beautifully crafted pookalam (flower carpet) added a traditional touch to the festivities. The celebrations grew even livelier as the girls danced with joy to the tunes of popular and trending songs, filling the campus with energy and cheer. Adding to the festive spirit was a delicious Onam special feast served traditionally on banana leaves, giving the girls a wonderful opportunity to savour the rich flavours of Kerala.

Beyond the Badge: A Session on Leadership with Empathy
On August 18, Shambhavi Kaushal, Head Girl of The Lawrence School, Lovedale, addressed the girls of Classes 7 and 8 on the core principles of Empathic Leadership. The session aimed to inspire students to lead with respect, integrity and genuine empathy. Drawing from her own journey to becoming Head Girl, Shambhavi encouraged students to stand up for what is right, resist mob mentality and lead fearlessly without misusing their authority. She emphasised that true leadership is not defined by titles or badges, but by the ability to influence others positively and create a meaningful impact. Organised by the Counselling Department as a proactive anti-bullying intervention, the session empowered students to foster a culture of kindness, courage, respect and responsible leadership within the school community.

Celebrating Language, Expression and Young Voices
The Junior School hosted the Inter-House Poem Recitation Competition on 18 August 2026, providing students of Classes 6–8 with an engaging platform to showcase their confidence, creativity and love for languages.
This year’s competition celebrated the richness of linguistic diversity through French, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. The introduction of Kannada and Telugu added a special dimension to the event, encouraging students to explore and appreciate different languages and cultures.

Report on Visit to the State Guide Camp
The Guide team of The Lawrence School, Lovedale visited the State Guide Camp held at Stanley Park on 17th May 2026. A total of 16 Guide students from Class IX participated in the camp along with the Guide captain Ms Sabitha. The camp provided the students with a wonderful opportunity to experience the spirit and activities of the The Bharat Scouts and Guides movement. During the camp, the students actively participated in various adventure activities which helped them develop confidence, teamwork, discipline, and leadership qualities.
One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity for the students to meet and interact with the State Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides and several senior members of BSG. The interaction inspired the students and gave them valuable insights into the ideals and activities of the organisation. The students also successfully appeared for the Pravesh Examination conducted at the camp. At the end of the programme, all the participants were proudly awarded Pravesh certificates and scarves by the State Organising Commissioner. The ceremony was a proud and memorable moment for the students as they officially became part of the guiding movement at a higher level. The entire visit was highly informative, adventurous, and inspiring. The students returned with unforgettable memories, enriched experiences, and renewed enthusiasm towards guiding activities.
