A STUDY ON RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LONELINESS AND MENTAL HEALTH AMONG THE COLLEGE STUDENTS

Abstract: The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between loneliness and mental health among the college students. The present study was conducted on 75 male and 75 female students administering the Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale by Russell, Peplau and Curtrona, Laso(1980) and General Health Questionnaire by David Goldberg (1972). The data was collected from students who were randomly selected from a private college. It was observed that there is a significant relationship between the loneliness and mental health and males are found to have more feeling of loneliness and mental health remains stable irrespective of the sex.
