School Infirmary

The school infirmary is a fully functional 20–30 bed facility, staffed by 2 Medical Officers, 5 qualified nursing staff and a pharmacist.

The infirmary is equipped to provide comprehensive primary medical care to students.

The infirmary has separate wards for different school sections - Prep School, Junior School, Girls’ School and Senior School - ensuring appropriate care and supervision.

Doctors assess students requiring admission and provide necessary treatment at the infirmary.

The infirmary also serves as an isolation facility for students with contagious infections, helping to prevent the spread of illness.

A pharmacy within the infirmary ensures the availability of essential medications.
Dental & Specialist Services

A dentist visits the school weekly for dental care and consultation.

An orthodontist visits the school once a month for orthodontic consultation and treatment.

The school has an established panel of specialist doctors in Ooty for referral and expert consultation whenever necessary.
First Aid & Emergency Services

First-aid facilities are available in three schools, with doctors and nurses available at designated times.

For emergencies, the institution maintains two ambulances equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) infrastructure, enabling prompt transfer of students to nearby hospitals when required.
Medical Screening & Preventive Care

All new students seeking admission undergo medical screening by the RMO to ensure that they are medically fit and can adapt to the local climatic conditions.

At the beginning of each term, all students are screened at their respective schools for hygiene and contagious infections before entering the dormitory.

Annual medical screening is conducted to monitor students’ physical growth and health parameters, contributing to their overall well-being.

The annual health programme includes eye check-up camps, dental check-ups and deworming programmes.
Medication Management

Any medication required by a student during the term must be accompanied by a valid prescription and shown to the doctor/nursing staff before being handed over to the matron.

During the term, all medicines remain in the custody of the matrons, who ensure that students take the medicines as prescribed.
Medical Leave Protocol

Frequent medical leave is discouraged, particularly for orthodontic treatment. A maximum of one leave per term may be permitted for orthodontic treatment.

All medical leave must be sanctioned by the RMO. Parents are required to update the school at the beginning of each term regarding any ongoing medical or orthodontic treatment.

In case of a dental/orthodontic appointment, a letter or review letter duly signed and sealed by the treating orthodontist must be submitted to the school at the beginning of each term.

Parents must inform the school by email in advance and obtain the necessary permission from the RMO/HM before availing medical leave.

Copies of all medical documents, prescriptions, reports and other records related to the student’s treatment must be submitted to the infirmary upon the student’s return from medical leave.
Infirmary & Student Recovery

The infirmary provides a comfortable and supervised environment for students to rest and recuperate during illness.

Parents will be promptly informed whenever a student is admitted to the infirmary.

Parents are kindly requested to limit phone calls during the recovery period, allowing students to rest adequately, recover quickly and return to their dormitories at the earliest.
