Vision

To appreciate the intricacies of the English Language and thereby broaden the students’ intellectual horizons as literature stimulates an active imagination. As Literature explores different human beliefs, ideas and societies, it will allow students to learn about where they came from and how past events work to shape the different cultures. ‘To instil a love for the English Language so that our pupils may grow to understand life’s truths as written and expressed in all of Literature and in so doing may learn to express their own thoughts, emotions, aspirations both for themselves and for humankind.

Objectives

I. To develop the ability to think and communicate ideas through Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

II. To develop Critical Thinking, Cultural Awareness and multimodal Verbal and Written Communication.

III. To encourage pupils to take up Public Speaking as a tool for developing confidence and the power to convince.

IV. To help pupils comprehend the scope of English as an International Language that link nations together.

V. To use the influence of communication to develop humanistic sensibilities, values and approaches to problems and issues.

 

VI. To understand that expression, in a language, is as significant as being thorough with the content.

A teacher, journalist, Personality Development and Voice & Accent Trainer, Ruchi has a work experience of 23 years. In the field of teaching, she has worked in well known Boarding Schools and Colleges across India and in Journalism, she has worked with The Times of India, The Indian Express, The Hindustan Times, The Pioneer, The Garhwal Post, The Himachal Times, Doordarshan, AIR and several national magazines. An alumnus of La-Martiniere College (Girls) and Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow, she has a distinction in Kathak, an Honours Diploma in Systems Management and a Gold Medal in Journalism and Mass Communication.

 

THOMAS GEORGE

Thomas has been teaching in Boarding Schools since the beginning of his career in 1992. An alumnus of St. Xavier's College, Calcutta, he joined Lovedale in 1995. 

Thomas was Housemaster in Prep School, Junior School and Senior School. He was also Head, Department of English between 2010 and 2014. 

Thomas was Coordinator of the first Junior Round Square Conference held in India and hosted in Lovedale in January 1997. An occasional poet, Thomas has had some of his poems published as well. 

 

Mr. GIJO JOSEPH

Anita has a passion for teaching. She has pursued her graduation in Women’s Christian College, Chennai and did Bachelor of Education from St. Christopher’s College of Education.

She believes, “We are the masterpiece of God. He gives us beauty, knowledge and a unique personality. Her dream is to live a life that makes a difference in the lives of young minds”.

 

Ms. MANMEET KAUR DUTT

 A dynamic young teacher, she is an alumnus of Delhi University. She has worked in OPG World School, Delhi from 15 October, 2014 to 12 February, 2016 and  joined LSL on 1st March, 2016.

 

Mr. ASLAM MOHAMMAD

Educational Qualification : MA, B.Ed, PGDL (Andhra University) 

Teaching Experience  :  4 years

Teaching Classes  :  7 and 10

Mr Aslam Mohammad is a well spoken person, with a flair for writing and also has experience of teaching the English language in the Middle East.

 

Mrs. NIDHI MISHRA

Educational Qualification : M.A (English Lit.) ,  B.Ed. 

Teaching Experience  :  15 years

Teaching Classes  :  7 and 9

An Alumna of the University of Lucknow, her initial education has been in St.Agnes' Loreto Day School and Loreto Convent, Lucknow.

As a student she has been a student council member from lower college through graduation;  As a student she was the  Secretary of the literary and debating club and President of the music club.

She is settled in Ahmedabad. 

 

Travelling and music are her favourite leisure activities.
