Squash

Squash is a racquet and ball sport played by two (singles) or four players (doubles) within a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. About 20 million people play Squash in over 185 countries. The governing body of Squash, the World Squash Federation (WSF), is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

 

Our School has 2 National Standard squash courts with wooden flooring.

The School provides ample opportunities to the pupils to take part at various State, IPSC and National level tournaments as a result of which every year, many students from various age categories participate at the SGFI tournaments as well.

Activities

SRFI Bangalore Club National Squash Open Tournament-24

The SRFI Bangalore Club National Squash Open Tournament held at Bangalore Club from February 24th to 27th, 2024, witnessed the participation of 13 boys and 8 girls from Lawrence School Lovedale. Organized by the SRFI, this tournament provided a platform for budding players to showcase their skills against national-seeded players.

 

Among the standout performers was Sia Kaul from class 8, who impressively reached the quarter-finals. Additionally, Sarvika from class 9, Kesanth, Dhruv, and Ira from classes 6 and 5 respectively, showed their potential by reaching the pre-quarterfinals. This tournament not only allowed the participants to test their abilities but also provided invaluable exposure to the competitive world of squash. Congratulations to all the participants for their commendable efforts!

State-level Squash Tournament, Chennai

Twenty-five students from The Lawrence School, Lovedale, participated in the State Level Squash Sub-Junior and Junior Tournament organized by the Flying Birds Academy in Chennai on the 14th and 15th of November 2023. The students competed in different age categories and had a great opportunity to showcase their skills.

 

The Squash coach, Mr. Nagarajan, and the Manager, Ms. Sameena, accompanied the team, providing a valuable opportunity for budding squash players to experience a higher level of the game. The following are the results:

DSI Open Squash National Tournament, Bangalore

 

A group of 11 boys from Lawrence School, Lovedale, had the opportunity to represent Tamil Nadu in the Under 13 and 15 categories at the DSI Open Squash National tournament held in Bangalore. The tournament was organised by SRFI and held at the DSI campus from September 9th to 12th, 2023.

The Squash Coach, Mr. Nagarajan, and the manager, Mr. Mohammad Irfan, escorted the team. It was a valuable opportunity for the budding squash players to experience a higher level of the game.

The IPSC Squash Championship (FOR GIRLS)

Our Girls’ Squash Team participated in the IPSC Squash Tournament (For Girls) hosted by the RAJMATA KRISHNA KUMARI GIRLS’ PUBLIC SCHOOL, Jodhpur, from 6th to 9th December 2022.

 

The Results are as follows:

The U-14 Team secured the 3rd place in the Team Championships.

Hiranya Bedi stood 3rd in the Individual Championship matches.

Sia Kaul Pandita won the IPSC Squash (Individual) championship 2022.
