Football

Football is the most popular game in The Lawrence School, Lovedale. We have two International-size Football fields, one grass and the other clay, which are used for training the pupils. Our pupils are trained by Mr. Mohanamurali, AFC Futsal -Coaching Certificate and AIFF-Grassroot Instructor Course.

Our teams regularly participate at the IPSC Nationals, CBSE Cluster Tournaments and CBSC National Football Tournaments as well as at the Reliance Youth Sports Foundation Tournaments. Our players have clinched many victories and won many medals for the School.

Lawrence Wins Inter-School Football

The Lawrence School U-19 boys' football team demonstrated their skill and dedication, emerging as the champions in the Inter-School Football Tournament conducted by St. Joseph Coonoor on 26 August 2023. Their journey to victory was not an easy one, as they faced tough competition from ICS, Laidlaw School, Holy Innocent School, Hebron School, and Kodai International School in league stages, and later triumphed over St. Joseph's School Coonoor in the semi-final and St. Jude's, Kotagiri in the final. Thyagi Viswanath of Class 12 was recognised for outstanding performance as the Best Striker of the Tournament.

In 2001, Mr DVS Rao coached the U-19 football team to victory. In 2023, as the Headmaster, Mr Rao led them to another championship, thus creating a memorable parallel in their journey to success.

Our U-17 boys' team also showcased great skill and determination, securing the runner-up position. Lawrencians defeated the Rex School, then Hebron School, and the Good Shepherd International School in their league stages. In the quarter-finals, JSS International School was dominated by our team. We won 4-2 in the semi-finals against River Side Public School. Although we lost in the final with St. Joseph's, Coonoor, with a 0-1 score, both teams' achievements brought immense pride to our School, highlighting the commitment and sportsmanship of our students.

Congratulations to the entire team for their hard work and success!
